Behind the Camera: Brad Reed on Trophy Photography

Lodge photographer Brad Reed shares the philosophy and techniques behind his iconic trophy portraits — and why he believes the photograph is as important as the harvest itself.

“The hunt ends when the trigger breaks — but the memory lives in the photograph,” Brad says. Working in the golden hour of Newaygo County mornings, Brad has developed a distinctive style that emphasizes the relationship between hunter and animal. His archive of over 12,000 images now forms the visual heritage of Legends Ranch.
